Mr. Gómez’s Story

Aarón Gómez was raised in the Houston area after his parents moved here as teenagers from Monterrey, Mexico. His parents crossed paths in Houston and built a life centered around family, education, and opportunity. They were determined to give Aarón and his two older siblings opportunities that did not come easily to them. Aarón’s mother became the first in her family of ten to graduate from high school and later became a master’s-level bilingual teacher. Her commitment to education, along with the example set by his family, shaped Aarón’s own path and the way he views service, culture, and opportunity.
Aarón attended Fort Bend ISD and graduated from Travis High School. With his mother and two siblings working in education, Aarón tried to resist the natural pull toward the field and initially desired a different path for himself. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Psychology at The University of Texas at San Antonio at age 20, originally with the hope of pursuing a master’s degree in social work. After graduating, he worked at Northside ISD as a special education paraprofessional in a self-contained classroom, supporting students with emotional and behavioral needs.
Soon after, Aarón returned home to Houston and began working as a direct therapist in an ABA clinic. That experience introduced him to Applied Behavior Analysis and helped him see the impact behavior support could have when it was intentional, individualized, and consistent. Looking to continue growing professionally, he completed an alternative certification program and became certified to teach Bilingual Education and Special Education.

Aarón went on to work in Fort Bend ISD as an elementary bilingual resource teacher, supporting both students with disabilities and students learning English as a second language. While teaching, he continued to feel drawn to the behavioral side of student support. He eventually stepped away from his master’s program in social work and began pursuing his master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. During that time, he worked in ABA clinics during the summers and continued building experience across educational and clinical settings.
After completing his master’s degree, Aarón helped pilot a specialized autism support program in Fort Bend ISD. He later served as a district-level Behavior Specialist in Pearland ISD, supporting behavior programming across 23 campuses. Once he completed the required supervision hours and passed the certification exam, Aarón became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and later returned to Fort Bend ISD as a district-level BCBA.
Over time, Aarón saw the same need across homes, schools, and clinical settings: families needed practical support that fit real life. Skills taught in structured settings did not always carry over easily into the home, community, school, or workplace. He also saw the importance of serving individuals across ages, disabilities, learning profiles, and support needs, with the understanding that independence looks different for every person. Families needed providers who understood that goals should be realistic, individualized, and meaningful.

Think Behaviorally was founded in October 2020 from this belief. Aarón created the company to provide ABA services and supports that meet clients and families where they are, teach in ways that fit how each person learns, and support meaningful independence across everyday routines. His unique combination of experience in bilingual education, special education, public school systems, clinic-based ABA, and family-centered care continues to guide the way Think Behaviorally serves clients today.
“Skills should not only work in a therapy setting - they should carry over into the home, community, school, work, and daily routines that matter most.”
